Introducing Sidrak and Bokkus...A Twist on Alternative Rock

From Left to Right: Josh Huntsberry,Nate Amos,Bovice Brown,Ryan MurphyRecently I was browsing through some local area artists and came across an amazing band. The band is from Burlington,Vermont which is about 1 hour away from me. I cannot wait to see them perform live! Their music reminded me of artists such as The Dave Mathews Band and John Mayer, but with a fresh new twist to it. I immediatley emailed them and asked for an interview. This was a band people just had to hear. Below you will find the interview, pictures of the band and one of the songs off their debut album White Noise On Black Paper, available to purchase on Itunes and Amazon .

Who Is Sidrak and Bokkus?

Band Members:

Josh Huntsberry: Guitar and Vocals

Ryan Murphy: Guitar and Vocals

Nate Amos:  Bass, Keyboard and Vocals

Bovice Brown: Dums and Percussion

How did the band get together?

Three of us (Nate, Ryan and Bovice) started playing music together in highschool in Vermont in a lot of different projects. Nate was originally from Virginia (as is Josh) and they knew each other. Josh came to vermont to work on his solo project while the other 3 of us were in highschool, and the idea of starting a band came about. This ultimately resulted in the four of us going to college in Burlington, VT and getting things rolling.

What genre of music do you consider yourselves in?

Alternative Rock is probably the best term, but we draw from a broad range of influences.

What bands or singers were your musical influences?

Each one of us has a pretty different list, but they include Radiohead, John Mayer, Foals, Pancake and Andrea, Pat Mcgee Band, Dave Matthews Band, Elliot Smith, The Beatles, Mae, Death Cab For Cutie, John Scofield, and Khonnor.

Do you have recorded music/albums?What are they and where can they be purchased?

Yes, our debut album 'White Noise on Black Paper' can be purchased on Itunes or Amazon.com. We are working on another album right now, which should be released in the first part of this year.

Do you tour?If so where and when is the next tour dates or live performances?

Now we are trying to play shows in Vermont and surrounding areas. On February 27th we are playing at the Radio Bean Cafe in Burlington,VT and April 30th at Elon University in North Carolina. We are planning on booking a tour this summer / next fall.

What goals does the band have for 2010?

Things have happened relatively fast so far. The band only officially started to exist at the end of August. This coming year we are just hoping to get our album out early, and get on tour at some point in the second half.

I would like to ask a couple of more personal questions so our readers and your fans can get to know you a little better.

Who designed the album art and what is the iconography?Click above to purchase on Amazon!

The artwork was done by Franky Cannon. It was probably the last thing we got for the album. We knew we needed something but we didnt really know what to do. We went to highschool with Franky, and all know that cool stuff like that pretty much falls out of her, so we called her about using one of her drawings. We all particularly liked that one so we just asked and she told us to go for it.

What are some of the bands hobbies?(other then music of course)

Tiger Woods '10

What are some of the bands favorite meals and drinks?

Red Stag, C17, and Sushi

Well Sidrak and Bokkus your band seems to have come a long way very fast and I expect the same for you in the furture. You are a vibrant, young and talented band who have what it takes to become stars! Keep up the awesome work and always remember, it's all about the music!

Be well and be happy my dear friends!
